AFENES: Improving the Quality of Life and Social Inclusion of People with Mental Health Conditions

The Association of Families of People with Mental Illness (AFENES, acronym in Spanish) is a non-profit association in Malaga, Spain founded in 1992, whose mission is to improve the quality of life of people with mental health conditions and their families, including defending their rights and fighting social stigma. AFENES provides advocacy and raises awareness. The association also develops programs that promote the recovery and social inclusion of people with mental health conditions so that they can participate fully in society. AFENES shares the latest news on mental health, conferences, and awareness campaigns created by AFENES and other mental health organizations. The association also works with businesses, museums, and other interested organizations in making their environments more accessible for people with mental health conditions and their families. Finally, AFENES works with volunteers and people with mental health conditions to make social inclusion a reality.
