Congratulations to LaWanda Cook and her team at Cornell University on their newest project exploring inclusive fitness for people with disabilities!
LaWanda Cook, Ph.D. of the NIDRR-funded Northeast ADA Center at Cornell University has been awarded an Inclusive Fitness Technical Assistance and Evaluation Grant from the New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (DDPC). Cornell is supporting three pilot projects in the development and implementation of fitness, wellness, or healthy lifestyle programs for individuals with developmental and other disabilities. A key component of the project is to enhance professional development opportunities for fitness professionals to serve people with developmental disabilities. The intent of the pilot projects is to create more opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in inclusive fitness programs. Cornell will produce a cumulative evaluation documenting key lessons learned.
