The Association of University Centers on Disabilities(AUCD) is hosting a webinar, “The Importance of Assessments in Helping People with Intellectual Disability and Mental Health and/or Behavioral Challenges: New Ways to Address Antipsychotic Medications and their Side Effects and Ways to Assess Trauma”, TOMORROW December 11 from 3-4:30 PM EST. Speakers Anne Desnoyers Hurley, PhD, and Brian D. Tallant will discuss two assessment approaches regarding two distinct areas of concern for people with intellectual disabilities. The first presentation will address the overuse of antipsychotic medications to treat challenging behavior and non-psychotic mental health conditions, and the second will focus on the assessment of trauma in this population due to the abuse and neglect of people with intellectual disabilities. The presentations aim to help participants gain a deeper understanding of the issues affecting people with mental, intellectual, and behavioral challenges and provide them with tools to properly recognize and asses these individuals’ needs. Registration is free but required.
