Bespoke Innovations, Inc. is on a mission to bring an individualized, human aspect to prosthetics for people who have congenital or traumatic limb loss.
Bespoke designs “Fairings”, specialized coverings created using three-dimensional scanning that surround existing prosthetics, to capture every distinctive contour of the prosthetic. The fairings are then used to design the individual’s prosthetic with enhancements including patterns and materials. Bespoke can incorporate anything from leather to chrome plating, even tattoos in their designs. Once the user has chosen his or her customizations, the one-of-a-kind prosthetic is created via 3D printing.
Fairings by themselves weigh 6.6 ounces (about the weight of an iPhone) and cost between $4,000 and $6,000 depending on the complexity of the design and finish materials. Bespoke Innovations, Inc. is currently based out of San Francisco but they are updating their website to take online requests.
