The Miss You Can Do It Pageant will be featured in a new HBO documentary airing June 24 at 9 p.m. EDT. The documentary follows eight contestants with varying disabilities as they prepare and compete in the pageant.
Miss You Can Do it is a national non-profit pageant that began in 2004 for girls and women with special needs and challenges. “I’ll try” is the motto of founder, Miss Iowa USA 2008 Abbey Curran. Curran was born with Cerebral Palsy. In 2008 she “tried” and made history becoming the first contestant with a disability to compete and win in a Miss USA-qualifying pageant.
This year’s Miss You Can Do It Pageant will take place July 27th; registration is still open but space is limited. Tickets are also available.
Take a moment to read about Miss All-American Standout, another beauty queen who “tried” and became an inspiration.
