Autism Speaks and NBA player Deron Williams teamed up earlier this month to promote Autism Awareness. On April 6, Williams, who plays for the Brooklyn Nets, served as a special ambassador during an autism awareness event at the Barclays Center. Through his foundation, Point of Hope, Williams invited a number of families affected by autism to watch his team take on the Charlotte Bobcats on a night that featured various events dedicated to autism awareness. Williams, whose son DJ has autism, wore blue shoes during the game in honor of Autism Speaks’ Light it Up Blue Campaign.
