Web Session on Athletic Opportunities for Students with Disabilities

The Great Plains ADA Center, in collaboration with the Inclusive Fitness Coalition, will hold an ADA Audio Conference Series session in response to The Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights guidance measure that addressed the rights of children with disabilities to participate in school athletics.  The session, titled “Extracurricular Athletic Opportunities for Students with Disabilities: Understanding the Issues” will seek to raise awareness of policy expressed by the measure and offer guidelines on how to provide opportunities in athletics from the primary to high school levels. Demonstrations on student integration strategies and instruction on how to create adapted programs will also be provided.

Registration is open. The session will be held on April 16, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT. There is no charge for Web Based Audio and Realtime captioning will be provided by the web-based conferencing system. Telephone Conference Connections are $25 per telephone line for non-profit entities and $40 for profit entities.
