The Washington Post features an excellent article on Players Unlimited, a Washington, DC acting troupe whose members have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their latest play, Past, Present, Future, casts the limelight on Forest Haven, an institution that closed in 1991 and where most of the actors were residents. The actors play both residents and employees in this play, written by the players themselves.
Read the article and interviews with the actors in the Washington Post. If you live in the DC area, Players Unlimited will be onstage at the Atlas Theater Saturday, December 10th. http://atlasarts.org/events/2011/07/past-present-and-future/
