Researchers, post-docs, institute staff, and other interested professionals in the DC area are invited to a workshop to learn more about research and knowledge translation and the role of the Cochrane Collaboration and its new Rehabilitation and Related Therapies Field Group. This workshop is presented by the National Center for the Dissemination of Disability Research. It’s FREE but you must register by Monday, April 20th!
WHAT: Disability and Healthcare Research Results: How to Increase Their Reach
Attendees will be introduced to the Cochrane Collaboration, including the US Cochrane Center and the Rehabilitation and Related Therapies Field group, and how these can be important resources in the research and knowledge translation (KT) process. Information will be provided about how healthcare-oriented systematic reviews are produced in the Cochrane Collaboration. Learning Outcomes. Participants will:
1. Learn how to increase exposure/use of their NIDRR-supported research findings through resources of The Cochrane Collaboration
2. Understand the evidence base and function of the Cochrane Collaboration, The Cochrane Library, PEDro database, and other research registries as tools to support research and the KT process
3. Identify Cochrane systematic reviews and other resources that can contribute to disability and rehabilitation research
4. Examine strategies for research design and knowledge translation activities to increase likelihood of NIDRR-sponsored research appearing in systematic reviewsWHEN: Thursday, May 7, 2009 (9:00 AM–1:00 PM)
WHO: Research and Knowledge Translation staff, including principal investigators, senior and early career researchers, post-doctoral and upper level graduate students.
WHERE: Holiday Inn – National Airport, 2650 Jefferson Davis Highway in Crystal City/Arlington, Virginia, approximately one mile from Reagan National Airport. The hotel provides complimentary van service to and from the airport; call the hotel from the airport to request a shuttle.
